Application
The UTLS Systems racks can be used for safe transportation of slit coils, full size coils, wire coils, circular blanks, cable drums, paper rolls and other similar shaped products on trucks, rail or boat and in container. They can also be used for in-house transportation, using the product’s own wheels.
The UTLS system is based on a modular system. The heart and foundation of the modular system is the base rack, which is available in different sizes depending on the diameter and weight of your coils.
There are also a wide range of accessories for The UTLS Systems racks to make the handling of coils and slit strips as easy as possible. Almost all accessories can also be retrofitted to existing racks.

The coils are placed on a material-friendly rubber mat inside the rack, which means it will not slide and you can safely transport all types of coils, also sensitive coils, without damage.
UTLS Systems racks can be lifted/transported with overhead crane, forklift truck, stapler or as tugger train.
When empty, 3-fold stacking (4 levels) of the rack is possible as standard. This means you can reduce the space required for storage.
The rack is also available in a stackable when loaded version. This means you could store two racks on top of each other.

Accessories to the UTLS Systems Coil transportation rack
There are a wide range of accessories available for the UTLS Systems racks to make the handling of coils and slit strips as easy as possible. Almost all accessories can be retrofitted to existing racks.
Stanchions
The supports against which the slit strips lean are known as stanchions.
We offer a wide range of patented stanchion designs for optimum securing of the materials on the load carrier, from the standard version to the Vario stanchion, which can be extended using an ingenious system. This allows you to fix any coil and slit strip dimensions cleanly at all times.
Stanchions Standard
The Standard stanchions are rigid and can’t be adjusted. These are mainly used for storage and in-house transportation.
Stanchions Vario
The Vario stanchions can easily be adjusted to fit your coils. This means your slit coils will be fixed during transportation, no matter the coil width. We always recommend Vario stanchions for truck or train transportation.
Our stanchions can withhold a coil weight of up to 12 tons. The surface in contact with the coil has a length of 400-800 mm. What length is recommended depends on the diameter of your coils.

Trolleys
For customers who want to move their coil transportation racks on their own wheels within the warehouse, we offer two different trolley systems for our racks: the FR5 and the FS2. Both versions consist of four wheels and a drawbar.
Trolley FR5
The advantage of the FR5 is that when the trolley is attached to the rack, it can rotate on its own axis. This means that the rack can be aligned very flexibly.
Trolley FS2
The FS2 trolley is slightly simpler and consists of a rear trolley and a front swivel trolley and has a maximum steering angle of 45° and is therefore not quite as flexible as the FR5.
Thanks to the ISO container corner system on the racks, both trolley systems can be connected to the racks in the simplest but safest way using a Twistlock locking mechanism. All you have to do is flip a lever.
Restraint system
The restraint system makes it possible to temporarily retain individual slit strips until a slit strip has been removed from the rack.
This means that the system offers the possibility of placing several slit strips in a rack without having to insert a heavy large stanchion between each slit strip.
Please note that the restraint system is only a temporary securing device. It must not be used to permanently secure the loaded materials.
The restraint system is offered in different versions depending on your coil size.
UTLS Vario lifting beam
To match our racks, we also offer you a Vario lifting beam with which you can transport the racks loaded or unloaded.
The lifting beam is able to cover all of our sizes thanks to additional mechanical positioning. This means you can safely transport all rack sizes with this lifting beam.
Weather protection for outdoor storage
If you want to store your UTLS Systems® coil racks outside for a longer period of time, we can offer a weather protection hood.
